The German Studies Certificate is an interdisciplinary certificate program designed for students in any field interested in combining a focused study of German language and culture with other disciplines. Students have the opportunity to develop and expand core German language proficiencies through the broader study of the rich history and culture of the German-speaking world in related subject areas and by examining German Studies through various interdisciplinary perspectives. The German Studies certificate integrates language acquisition with students’ academic interests in politics, history, literature, art, and culture of the German-speaking world, and emphasizes the twentieth century through the present. Courses are to be selected in consultation with an advisor.
