All MA students receive a first-year review after they have completed 12 or more credit hours in the program. Thus the review will take place at the end of the first year for full-time students, but it may occur later for part-time students. Each of the professors for the student’s classes is asked to provide additional feedback about student performance, potential, strengths, weaknesses, etc. The graduate director amasses and anonymizes the comments and passes them on the students.
The First-Year Review is designed to provide students with an overview of their performance at the mid-point of their program of study. It will also give an early indication as to whether a student should consider further graduate work after the MA.
