First Time In College (FTIC) Orientation

Before Orientation

Orientation is facilitated by the Office for New Student and Family Programs, so please review their website for Orientation details

Check your UCF email regularly for important updates and reminders from the College of Arts and Humanities Student Advising (CAHSA) team, which includes a pre-Orientation email from your Academic Success Coach (ASC)

During Orientation: What to Expect

Attend an Arts and Humanities overview presentation led by Academic Success Coaches in CAHSA

Attend a department or school presentation hosted by a representative from your declared major

Connect with your assigned Academic Success Coach in a group setting to plan and prepare for course registration
Register for your first semester(s) courses with the help of your Academic Success Coach

Because advising during Orientation is personalized and comprehensive, meeting with your Academic Success Coach before Orientation is not necessary. We’ve got you covered throughout the Orientation process!

Transfer Orientation

Transfer students should complete the items on the orientation task list, including the pre-orientation content. Students will receive information from CAHSA and the department/school of their major leading up to orientation to their UCF email address.

Students will attend a college presentation given by Academic Success Coaches and a department/school presentation given by a representative in the department/school of their major. Transfer students will meet with their assigned Academic Success Coach in a group setting to prepare for course registration in the afternoon of their scheduled orientation. Students register for courses for their first semester(s) during orientation.

UCF Online Orientation

Students pursuing a major through UCF Online in English (Creative Writing, Literature, or Technical Communication), History, Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx Studies, Religion & Cultural Studies, or Writing and Rhetoric will complete virtual orientation through UCF webcourses.

Students are required to complete the UCF Online Virtual Orientation webcourse, as well as the CAH Virtual Orientation webcourse. Students can expect to work with an Academic Success Coach to complete the orientation process and register for courses for the upcoming semester(s).

Overrides during Orientation

Students attending orientation who would like to request an override into English Composition or another course taught by the College of Arts and Humanities requiring ENC1011 (English Composition I) or ENC1102 (English Composition II) should complete the ENC Override Request Form. The link to and information on how to complete the override form can be found on theENC Overrides Request page.

What to bring to orientation

Students should plan to have all unofficial transcripts or score reports of any incoming credit to UCF, even if official score reports and transcripts have already been sent to the University. These documents may be used to assist Academic Success Coaches with scheduling planning and selection of courses for future semesters.
