The Middle Eastern Studies Program at UCF is designed to foster teaching, research and scholarship of the Middle East and Muslim world in particular. The program has a strong focus on the religious, political, historical and social forces shaping the region. The program offers an interdisciplinary minor that provides students an overview of Middle Eastern civilization and a detailed study of its most important features.

Mary Fleigh Mackoul Scholarship
In 2006, as a result of a generous gift to the university, the Mary Fleigh Mackoul Endowed Fund began. The purpose of this scholarship is to “advance and promote the academic and curricular development of topics related to middle eastern studies with a focus on issues important to understanding the culture, politics, and religion of Arab nations and Arabic language.”
- Applicant must be enrolled as a UCF full-time undergraduate or graduate student
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Enrolled in courses related to understanding the culture, politics and religion of Arab nations and Arabic language
