Biography
Dr. Stacey Lynn (Barreto) DiLiberto is Associate Lecturer of Humanities and Cultural Studies at UCF. She teaches courses in Latin American Humanities, Latino Cultural Studies, Postcolonial Theory, Environmental Humanities, and general humanities in UCF's General Education Program. She was awarded the 2023 Chuck D. Dziuban Award for Excellence in Online Teaching for her "Monsters and Mad Scientists" themed section of HUM 2020: Encountering the Humanities.
As a proud first-generation college student and UCF alumna, Dr. DiLiberto holds a Ph.D. in Texts and Technology from UCF. Her dissertation on digital translation and Caribbean women's literature and culture earned her a College of Arts and Humanities Innovative Dissertation Award.
Dr. DiLiberto's research in ecocriticism, global and ethnic literatures, translation, and visual/digital cultures is interdisciplinary and comparative. She has also published and presented research on digital learning and teaching strategies, including online environments and gamification, authentic assessments, cultural literacy, and active learning.
Dr. DiLiberto has held faculty positions at Valencia College, Barry University, and Montclair State University. Prior to becoming a professor, she worked in publishing and communications as a writer and translator, and she continues to occasionally freelance and consult, most recently in AI content creation and quality assurance.
Having studied abroad in Italy and France as an undergraduate student, Dr. DiLiberto still travels extensively. Through her work and research, she has participated in NEH grants and travel fellowships to Switzerland, Russia, Mexico, New York City, and Puerto Rico and a service learning trip to the Lakota Sioux Reservation in Pine Ridge, South Dakota. She will be leading a study abroad cohort to the UCF Barcelona Center in summer 2026.
