Biography
Grazia Spina was born in Genova, Italy, where she spent the early years of her life. She earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Modern Languages and Literatures in her hometown. By the time she completed her studies, she was fluent in Italian, English, French and German. She had also studied Latin for eight years and had acquired conversational proficiency in Spanish.
Genova, a picturesque city on the Mediterranean Sea and historically a departure point for many explorers, inspired Grazia’s own global adventures. She worked in the travel industry for over 13 years, driven by an insatiable passion for exploration. Her travels took her around the world twice, visiting more countries than she can recall.
Grazia moved to Central Florida in 1998 and began working at the Kennedy Space Center as an interpreter for NASA and Boeing. In 2002, she transitioned into academia, beginning her teaching career at UCF.
Since joining UCF, Grazia has taught Italian, French and German, and has led numerous summer study abroad programs. These include trips to Italy in 2003 and Florence in 2012, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2022 and 2023; Paris in 2006, 2007 and 2008; Vienna in 2009, 2010 and 2011; Nice in 2013 and 2014; and Munich in 2016. Her dedication to language education and cultural immersion has left a lasting impact on countless students.
