The purpose of the course is to learn about film screenplay structure, analyze writing strategies and plot progression in short films, learn and apply correct script form, and creatively engage in the various stages of original scriptwriting. The assignments will include technical writing skills required in scriptwriting, proper structure of action and dialogue, writing a treatment and a 10-page script, with special emphasis on the steps leading toward creating a final screenplay. The course places an emphasis on analyzing dramatic structure and visualizing dramatic elements as that is what makes for good movies.
By using the assigned book and online resources, you will read, watch, and complete written exercises designed to aid you in the completion of your own original script. |
