Research Interests
My research aims to address the spatial implications of design elements in birthing spaces and impact of these elements on the birthing experience. Some of the research reaches into the prenatal and postnatal periods of maternity, specifically the 1st year postnatal, thereby creating opportunities for further investigation. While focusing on the maternity thought model prevalent in the United States, a high-intervention model; by investigating the impact of visual stimulus on the birthing experience, investigating the decenterization of the birth bed, and introduction of sound in the birthing space, my research adds to the now growing body of maternity research.
