Biography
Byron Clercx (MFA, California State University at Fullerton) currently teaches undergraduate and graduate studio art courses and coordinates the Advanced Design area. Previous appointments include serving as SVAD’s director from 2013-2016, Director/Chairperson at Marshall University (2005-2013), sculpture coordinator at the University of Idaho (1993-2005) and visiting faculty at Whitman College (1991-93). His work has been featured in over eighty art exhibitions, and he co-produced a public art project for the Boise City Arts Commission and served as Lead Artist on a themed two-block historic streetscape project in Huntington, WV. His artwork is held in numerous private and public collections including Odd Volumes: Book Art from the Allan Chasanoff Collection at Yale University’s Art Gallery; and Tools as Art: The Hechinger Collection. Other professional highlights include over forty invited public lectures, freelance writing for SCULPTURE magazine, and a 2003-04 sabbatical in Central and Eastern Europe.
