Strasbourg, France 🇫🇷 will commemorate the 80th anniversary of its liberation from the Nazi system, marking the end of five years of annexation by the Third Reich.

As part of the celebrations, @ucf.edu history graduate student Marie Oury was one of only 40 authors invited to participate in the inaugural Military Book Fair in partnership with the French Armed Forces Ministry for her work Raymond: 1939, mon grand-père alsacien avait 20 ans.

To further commemorate the Liberation of Alsace, the magazine Saison d’Alsace published a special edition that included Marie Oury and UCF’s Florida-France Soldier Stories team article “Nés en Floride, morts en Alsace,” which recounts the lives of five Floridian soldiers who lost their lives in the fierce battles for Alsace’s liberation.

This year’s selections, chosen by the course instructors, include scenes such as a game of bridge, three anxious coeds in a dorm room, creating a pizza, and a lesson on carefully choosing one’s dreams.
