This annual open house provides a festive atmosphere for the community to engage with UCF artists, experience student projects, and tour the studio and classroom spaces in the Visual Arts Building. Art Knight! will coincide with Myriad: Fall BFA Exhibition‘s Opening Reception.

Featured SVAD Academic Programs

  • The Emerging Media, MFA – Studio Art and Design track will showcase a variety of students’ works, such as paintings, sculptures, and installations.
  • The Photography B.S. program and the Studio Art, Photography specialization will exhibit work of current photography students in both programs with students and faculty in attendance.
  • The Emerging Media, BFA – Experimental Animation track will showcase reels of students’ works, including shorts and projects, on a large, inflatable screen outside, as well as inside the studio spaces.
  • The Studio Art B.A. and BFA programs will display students’ drawings and paintings on the walls of VAB’s second floor, as well as inside the studio spaces.
  • 3D design and 2D design foundation courses will display student projects and artwork on walls both upstairs and downstairs. 3D design students will be actively working on projects inside the studio space throughout the night.
  • The Architecture B.Des program will display students’ works on the first-floor wall and inside the classroom spaces with 3D models, flat illustrative designs and pin-up work.
  • The Emerging Media, BFA – Character Animation track will display students’ printed works both in the classroom and on the walls to showcase their time-based media and pre-production work. Additionally, they will provide a reel of all relevant time-based media for display on large projectors and will showcase finished animated shorts in the amphitheater.
  • The Art History program will host art trivia with the Art History Club.
  • The Studio Art, Sculpture area will display students’ works in the sculpture studio and “sculpture yard.”
  • The Emerging Media, BFA – Graphic Design track will exhibit current student works in the second-floor hallway and will have demonstrations of methods and processes using SVAD’s risograph machine in the studio space.
  • The Illustration area will exhibit current student work, demonstrations of student projects and methods of processes used to create work in the studio space.
  • The Print Making and Book Binding areas will have student work on display on the walls of the first floor and will have an interactive screen-printing demonstration, where attendees can pull their own screen-printed coasters.

FOOD TRUCKS!

The event will feature food and refreshments from local food trucks: Juicy Leos, “Cuban Food with a Twist,” featuring their Chicken Bacon Waffle Burger, “El Cubano” Cuban Sandwich, and more, and El Pollo Gordo, “Specializing in all things chicken,” featuring chicken sandwiches, empanadas, chicken wings, tacos, and more. Assorted treats will be available in select classrooms, first come, first serve. Water fountains and free water bottle fill-up stations are located throughout the VAB.

Parking Info

Free parking is available in Garage F next to the Addition Financial Arena. Parking Lot H4 or Garage I requires purchasing a $5 daily virtual visitor permit, purchase here. Note that visitors should park in green spaces ONLY, as the $5 daily virtual permit doesn’t cover red & blue spaces from the hours of 7am – 5:30pm. Starting at 5:30pm, visitors can park in red, blue and green spaces.

Art Knight! coincides with the opening reception of Myriad: Fall 2023 BFA Exhibition in the UCF Art gallery. View works from senior undergraduate students specializing in book arts, ceramics, drawing, experimental animation, illustration, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture as they share their research and artistic practice. The exhibition runs November 17 – December 5.
