Equally at home on stage, in the concert hall, or performing standards in a more intimate setting — vocalist Richard Crawley (www.richardcrawley.com) captivates audiences with his passionate singing and nuanced dramatic presence. He has appeared as soloist in opera, musical theater & symphony concerts across the US and internationally. Appearances include Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Savonlinna Opera Festival in Finland, State Opera of South Australia, the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Houston Grand Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Atlanta Opera, Staatstheater Stuttgart, the Marinsky Theater in St. Petersburg, Russia, Opéra de Québec and the Greek National Opera.

Symphony appearances include Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center, the Tokyo Oratorio Society, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Dayton Philharmonic, the Hong Kong Symphony, Bay-Atlantic Symphony, Greater Bridgeport Symphony, the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica, Syracuse Symphony, Baltimore Choral Arts Society, Handel Choir of Baltimore, Concert Artists of Baltimore, the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.

Richard is currently Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre at the University of Central Florida School of Performing Arts in Orlando, where he specializes in musical theatre voice & serves as Theatre UCF Music Director. Prior to joining UCF, he served on the faculties of the Department of Drama at Syracuse University, the Setnor School of Music, Loyola College in Baltimore, the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival in Alaska, and Binghamton University. Richard is passionately committed to cross training musical theatre artists and classical vocalists alike.

In April 2024 Richard will conduct UCF’s production of Sweeney Todd at the Dr. Phillips Center in downtown Orlando as part of UCF Celebrates the Arts. Also this season he will be Music Supervisor for Peter and the Starcatcher presented by Theatre UCF on the main campus.
