Biography
Belinda (Be) Boyd
Associate Professor at the University of Central Florida. Previous teaching positions: University of Louisville, University of Vermont, University of North Carolina-Greensboro, and Texas Christian University. Areas of specialization: Directing, Acting, Voice/Movement.
As a Walt Disney Show Director, she directed theme park shows, for Disney Event Group and the Disney Institute. Additional professional directing includes productions in New York, Texas, Toronto, North Carolina, Kentucky, Vermont, and Florida. Recently directed Intimate Apparel and Topdog/Underdog at Palm Beach Dramaworks.
A member of Actors’ Equity Association, she has performed for several Shakespeare companies including Shakespeare and Company, Orlando Shakespeare Theatre and Kentucky Shakespeare. Selected roles include Elizabeth in Richard III, Goneril in King Lear, Silvia in Two Gentlemen of Verona, Mistress Quickly in Henry IV Part II and Henry V, Tranio in Taming of the Shrew, Ariel in Tempest and Olivia in Twelfth Night. She recently performed the role of Mary McLeod Bethune in an upcoming biographical documentary.

A Dramatists Guild member. Currently writing a play for Orlando Repertory Theatre. Additional scripts include: Our Darkest Hour: The Story of Trayvon Martin (documentary),Shakespeare’s Greatest Loves (Orlando Shakespeare Center), A Day Without Inventions (Orlando Science Center), Growing Young (Television Pilot Submitted to ABC), We Carry the Dream (Hangar Theatre) The Dream Keeper (Virginia Stage Company), Mother of Civil Rights (Kentucky Juneteenth Festival).
A Consultant for corporations/companies such as FARO–3D Measurement Technology, Engineering and Computer Simulation, Association of Image Consultants International, Empathy Vision, Tourism for South Africa-Training for FIFA World Cup. Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy and Mursion-Virtual Training Environment and Bailey’s Entertainment Group.
She is currently the KCACTF Co-Chair of Region IV. Selected KCACTF Awards: KCACTF Kennedy Center Medallion for Artistic Excellence, KCACTF Region IV Teaching Artist Award. National KCACTF Commendations: Distinguished Performance by a Faculty Guest Artist – Gem of the Ocean (Aunt Ester) and The Woman Who Fell from the Sky (Rita), Second Alternate For National Festival - La Llorona (Director). Selected Awards for Excellence in Directing: The Learned Ladies, The Piano Lesson, West Side Story, Twelfth Night and Stop Kiss.
