Department Archives: Modern Languages and Literatures

UCF Latin American Studies will receive a grant of $184,000 from the U.S. Department of Education to develop new student opportunites in Latin America and the Caribbean through short-term programs, internships and in-service programs.

In Cuba: A Collective Portrait (LAS 3930) students will dive into Cuban culture, examining through arts, literature, history and other themes.

The Latin American Studies program has launched a new initiative this fall semester to recognize the volunteer efforts of LAS students in the community.

The UCF-Hillcrest Foreign Language Club provides university and elementary students an opportunity to use their Spanish and French language skills in a collaborative environment. The club is currently seeking UCF volunteers who are in 3000-level or higher French and Spanish classes.

Professors Anne Prucha and Kacie Tartt, along with students who participated in the program last year, shared information about the 2019 study abroad program “Journey Cuba.”

UCF will celebrate Spanish language and culture at the 18th Annual Spanish Graduate Association (SaGA) Colloquium. The colloquium, coordinated by the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, is a conference that gives students the opportunity to disseminate their research on topics concerning the Spanish-speaking world.
