Amy Bailey is pursuing an MFA at Miami University where she serves as Oxford Magazine's nonfiction editor and recently won the Jordan-Goodman Award in creative nonfiction. She received her BA from Kent State University in journalism and mass communication and spent many years in the south working in television news and magazine production before returning to Ohio. Her essays and poems about the working class, poverty, and womanhood have appeared in PMS: Poem Memoir Story (now known as NELLE), Blotterature, Voicemail Poems, Revolution House, and Exit 13 Magazine among others. She is currently researching and writing an essay collection recounting three generations of women in her family, their secrets, the societal norms that demanded they keep them, and the lasting effects of their silence.
