Andrew Steger

Andrew Steger is a student at the University of Colorado Denver pursuing an MA in Applied Geography and Geospatial Science, where he is fortunate to explore his interests in human-environment interactions and children’s geographies. He believes that storytelling can illuminate hidden knowledges, give a voice to marginalized communities, and be a means of emotional growth and extension for the storyteller. In the case of this digital story, it provided not only an opportunity for introspection of his own childhood, but also a channel in which to connect to current youth who were working on their own stories for the Project Voyce program. He hopes to continue his work researching the spatial dimensions of youth life worlds and investigating the possibilities of mixed-methods and qualitative GIS in children’s geographies.
