On April 19, the UCF Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) Program, housed in the Department of Writing and Rhetoric, hosted the Schell Award ceremony and the showcase of the WAC Faculty Fellows Program. The Schell Award for Implementing Innovative Writing Instruction in the Disciplines is given annually to a UCF faculty members who has displayed excellence in and commitment to improving student learning through writing. The award was endowed by UCF VP and Chief of Staff Dr. Rick Schell, whom the WAC Program wishes to thank for his continued support. Below is the interview with this year’s winner of the Schell Award—professor of education Dr. Vicky Zygouris-Coe.
The award ceremony was followed by the showcase of the WAC Faculty Fellows from the department of Philosophy, the School of Visual Arts and Design, and the Rosen College of Hospitality Management. The fellows presented new and revised writing-related learning outcomes and assignments which they created with the help of the WAC Program.

The WAC Faculty Fellows Program is a faculty development initiative designed to give teachers across all disciplines greater facility in discipline-specific writing instruction.
