WGST’s mentoring program for girls, Young Women Studies Program (YWLP) has been awarded a $7,000 Community Action Grant from the American Association of University Women (AAUW) to integrate a STEM sub-program titled SLAM (Science Leadership and Mentoring). SLAM will focus on STEM leadership, education, and careers. Big Sisters will expose, encourage and excite their Little Sisters towards STEM education and careers through their mentoring, interactive activities, workshops, and weekend events at UCF. Dr. Anne Bubriski-McKenzie, YWLP’s Coordinator and WGST’s Lecturer, is heading the team of YWLP Big Sisters and Facilitators on this effort.
