A nationwide organization providing important reproductive health care, sex education, and information to millions of people, as well as safe, reliable medical care to local communities. Planned Parenthood offers preventive healthcare to prevent unplanned pregnancies through different forms of contraception, reduce sexually transmitted infections, and prevent cervical and other cancers.
Planned Parenthood encourages each person to make informed, independent decisions about health, sex, and family planning. In addition to these services, Planned Parenthood educates American’s about reproductive and sexual health. They provide teenagers and adults with all types of information pertaining to sexuality and relationships. Planned Parenthood provides this information to reduce our nation’s extremely high teen pregnancy rate.
Through education programs as well as community outreach, they educate approximately 1.5 million teenagers and adults annually. Planned Parenthood advocates for female reproductive and bodily rights and strives to fight for policies that put women’s health at the forefront, affiliating itself with campaigns that protect women’s rights and educate teens and young adults about sexuality, relationships, and contraception.
