Program Overview

The student auditor track provides full access to the symposium at a subsidized rate. This track is for currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students. Participants will sing in the 80-voice workshop choir and attend all masterclasses and clinics.

  • Participation Fee: $100.00
  • Registration Opens: January 12, 2026
  • Final Payment Deadline: May 1, 2026
  • Capacity Note: The choir is limited to the first 80 paid registrants. Your spot is not secured until full payment is received.

Refund Policy
Full refunds are available until May 1, 2026. A $25 administrative fee applies to cancellations between May 2 and May 15. No refunds issued after May 15, 2026.
Attendance
Full participation for all three days is required to perform in the final concert.

Conducting Fellow

Program Overview and Selection Criteria

The Conducting Fellow track is limited to 8 accepted conductors. Each Fellow will receive 67.5 total minutes of dedicated podium time over three days with the 80-voice workshop choir and collaborative pianist. Due to the high-level nature of this masterclass, fellowship selection is highly competitive.

  • Application deadline: March 1
  • Fellowship selection notification: March 10
  • Application fee: $35 (non-refundable, submitted with application)
  • Fellowship tuition: $650 (due by March 17)

Note: If tuition is not received within 7 days of notification, the fellowship offer may be extended to an alternate candidate from the waiting list.

  • How does the "Passion & Purpose" philosophy align with your personal approach to choral artistry and education?

Video Submission Guidelines

Submit two unlisted YouTube or Vimeo links. Camera angle must be full-frontal (facing the conductor) to assess facial communication and gesture. Audio quality must be clear.
5–10 minute video demonstrating your rehearsal technique, verbal instructions, and ensemble interaction.
5–10 minute video demonstrating musicality, score preparation, and expressive gesture in a performance or dress rehearsal.

Auditor/Teacher

Program Overview

The Auditor/Teacher track is designed for music educators and advanced musicians seeking intensive professional development. Participants serve as integral members of the 80-voice workshop choir, singing under the direction of Full Participants and receiving direct guidance from Dr. Thomas and Dr. Armstrong.

Key Benefits
Access to all masterclass sessions, attendance at 7.5 hours of specialized clinics, the opportunity to sing in the final concert, and eligibility for CEU/Recertification points.

Participation Fee & Deadlines:
  • Total Fee: $250
  • Deposit Option: A $100 non-refundable deposit is due between January 12 and February 1 to secure your spot and vocal placement.
  • Final Balance: The remaining $150 balance is due no later than March 1.
  • Full Payment Option: You may choose to pay the full $250 at any time between January 12 and March 1.
