“Without Borders” features painting, video, sound, sculpture, photography, and performance art by artists from diverse cultural and ideological backgrounds. Seeking Ka, by Marlenys Rojas-Reid, is a series of layered paintings on transparencies. Made with energetic strokes of bold colors, the layers cast shadows that are integral to the work. The layering technique encourages the viewer to look past the surface and find the shadow, or soul, of the artist.
Just A Minute, by Tim Reid, is a two-and-a-half-minute video that takes you through an exasperating sequence of clocks and timers marking time. Sounds and images take you to an ominous end…or beginning.

The Gallery at Avalon Island is a contemporary art space that hosts exhibitions for established artists, located at 39 S. Magnolia Avenue in downtown Orlando.
