Behind the Frames & The Beethoven Project (A New Light)

Works by UCF School of Visual Arts and Design students in the Character Animation BFA and Animation and Visual Effects MFA tracks.

The works presented in this exhibition are rarely seen preproduction and production images created for the development of graduate and undergraduate animated films. Displayed here are character design sheets, production stills, background paintings and concept sketches from recently released and current projects.

The Beethoven Project (A New Light)

Works by UCF School of Visual Arts and Design students in the Animation and Visual Effects MFA track.

This Digital Display features artworks that contributed to the making of an animated narrative film written by the graduate students in the Animation and Visual Effects Master of Fine Arts program in the School of Visual Arts and Design at UCF. The film was created to accompany the UCF Orchestra’s performance of the Second Movement of Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony.

The film features a young explorer who dreams of space travel. Only after building a spaceship and living among the stars does she realize that she yearns for the comfort of her garden at home. Included are pre-production development and proof of concept images along with storyboards and production stills that display surreal landscapes, imagined space phenomena and foreign worlds. These elements represent the various stages of producing a hybrid 2D-3D animated short film.
