Art meets business with a collaboration launching this week between the UCF School of Visual Arts and Design (SVAD) and Crocker Partners, owner of the nearby University Park office center.
Works by UCF students will be showcased in University Park’s five office buildings, beginning with a May 18 event marking completion of a $5 million makeover of the office center.
“This is a terrific showcase, bringing our students’ creative work to a professional business environment,” said Yulia Tikhonova, UCF Art Gallery director. “Crocker Partners is providing a unique opportunity for our artists to share their work apart from the academic campus or a typical gallery.”
The ongoing exhibit adds a new dimension to the workplace experience for the center’s thousands of employees and visitors, according to Crocker Partners Vice President Josh Edwards.
“From business to engineering, research and the arts, UCF is a stand-out in creating partnerships that benefit students, companies and the community,” he said. “That innovative spirit makes this an exciting collaboration.”
The ongoing exhibit in all five of the fully renovated University Park office building lobbies provides an added workplace amenity for diverse tenants including Apple, Regus HQ, Zenith Insurance, Tony Roma’s, HCA, Jackson Therapy Partners and multiple federal government agencies.
With building community interest and support for the arts as a key SVAD priority, the school is also currently producing a series of dynamic exhibitions at the Orlando Science Center’s Mezzanine Art Gallery, Tikhonova noted. Those exhibitions will focus on works that integrate art into the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) curriculum.
