Orlando Sentinel’s theater critic Matthew J. Palm nominated individuals from a spectrum of dramas, comedies and musicals that “elevated the theatrical arts” for Orlando Theater Best of 2022. Several UCF students, alumni and faculty members were among those nominated.
Lauren Schulke, a student at UCF, was nominated as a featured actor in the drama category for her role in Theatre UCF’s production of The Interference.
Joseph D’Ambrosi ’16 was nominated as a featured actor in the musical category for his role as Mr. Bumble in Oliver.
Faculty member Roberta Emerson was nominated as a best director in the drama category for her direction of Apologies to Lorraine Hansberry (You Too, August Wilson).
Nicole Visco ’15 was also nominated as a best director in the drama category for her direction of Closer.
Shonn McCloud ’14 was nominated twice as a best director in the musical category for his direction of Oliver and Trav’lin: A 1930s Harlem Musical.
Faculty member Jim Helsinger was also nominated twice as a best director for the comedy category for his direction of Much Ado About Nothing and Noises Off.
Tramaine Berryhill, lecturer and technical director for Theatre UCF, was nominated for the best of scenic design category for his work on The Mountaintop.
Janiece Deveaux, a current student at UCF, was nominated as a leading actor in the comedy category for her role in Theatre UCF’s Fabulation, or the Re-education of Undine.
Timothy Williams ’96 was also nominated as a leading actor in the comedy category for his role in Noises Off.
Faculty member Rob Siler was nominated for best of lighting design for his work on Theatre UCF’s The Interference.
Faculty member Casey Deiter was nominated for best of sound design for his work on Theatre UCF’s Fabulation, or the Re-education of Undine.
