During UCF football’s home opener against Jacksonville State, Rachel Marks, a lecturer in the Department of Writing and Rhetoric, received the Academic Success Partner of the Game award.

The award recognizes faculty and staff members who demonstrate excellence and dedication in their roles. Since joining UCF six years ago, Marks has made a strong impact on first-year writing courses, teaching a wide range of students, including many football players.

Marks has collaborated closely with Senior Academic Success Coach Summer Richmond of Academic Services for Student-Athletes, who assists the football team with their academic needs. Richmond told Marks about the award, noting her collaborative support of student-athletes. Athletic Director Terry Mohajir also shared that the recognition was especially meaningful because it was chosen by the players.

“I felt incredibly honored to be awarded the Academic Success Partner of the Game,” Marks said. “It filled me with a sense of pride, because the most important aspect of teaching for me is knowing I’ve had a positive impact on students’ learning. I also had an amazing experience at the game, getting to root for our Knights at the sidelines and experience a game up close.”

Congratulations to Rachel Marks for her outstanding contributions to UCF. Her dedication and enthusiasm for teaching continue to enrich the UCF community.
