Following a national, three-month search, Orlando Repertory Theatre has found its new executive director from among its current staff.
Chris Brown will begin running the theater on July 1, the Rep’s board of directors announced Monday. He will replace Gene Columbus, who is retiring after 11 years with the theater. Columbus announced his retirement in February.
Brown is general and production manager at the theater, which specializes in productions for children, young adults and their families. The Rep is the largest professional theater for young audiences in the Southeast.
“Chris brings exceptional talent coupled with sound fiscal management skills, the ability to build relationships with supporters and stakeholders in both the public and private sectors, and he demonstrates a passion for creating exceptional experiences,” said Kirtus Bocox, board chairman, in announcing the appointment.
