Orlando Sentinel arts writer Matt Palm attended the final dress rehearsal of One Man, Two Guvnors to review Theatre UCF’s production. He praised the cast’s comedic performances and the creative team’s bold yet balanced design choices. Palm writes:
“— but trust me when I say absolutely nothing in this show is meant to be serious. And the Theatre UCF student cast, as directed by David Sterritt, gets that vibe right.”
“…Francis has to be eminently likeable without wearing out his welcome, and Theatre UCF scores on that point with Lincoln Stone. He’s just happy enough, just dim enough and just scrappy enough that you can’t help but root for him. Stone shows not only solid comic timing but a command of quick thinking in improv moments with audience members.”
“Rob Siler’s projections add to the Swinging ’60s motif, and Olivia Deiter’s sound nicely balances the musical elements with the spoken dialogue.”
