When Dr. Lanlan Kuang sent an email to her students about IIE-CEAIE Teach in China Program, Humanities and Cultural Studies minor student, Tracy Folger ’18 decided to take a shot and apply to the program. Little did Folger know how much the email would change her life.
“Not only did I take a chance and apply to the program, but I have been accepted and am now in my third month living and teaching in China. While living here I teach English to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders at Lei Feng Elementary School in the Xi Cheng district of Beijing, I have started taking mandarin classes, and as a member of the IIE program opportunities to expand are readily available. I am also currently applying to colleges in Beijing so that I can work on a master’s in Comparative Education.”
The IIE-CEAIE Teach in China program recruits native English speakers from a number of English speaking countries to teach English in China for a period of a year or more. For more information please visit https://www.iie.org/en/Programs/CEAIE-Teach-in-China.
