Five UCF students and two faculty members from the School of Visual Arts and Design were awarded Sony Scholarships on April 13, 2012. Sony Scholarship is awarded to current, full time University of Central Florida students or faculty who have shown superior academic achievement in the fields of digital and emerging media such as Game Design, Animation, Graphic Design, and Architecture.
The student winners were Lidia Kawashima, Natalia Savorotca, Jaffy Escarcha, Alissa Babineau, and Andrew Pace. The faculty winners were Dan Novatnak and Darlene Hadrika.
Applicants were required to send in a faculty letter of recommendation detailing how the student had excelled in the field of digital media, inside and outside of the classroom setting; any community outreach in the arts the student had accomplished; what set the nominated student apart from their peers; and how receiving the award would benefit the students future in the field of emerging media.
Each winner will receive a Sony equipment package including a VAIO PC Notebook and related electronic equipment. In past years, products have been valued at approximately $1,200.
