An All-Girl Art-Zine Set Out to Empower and Inspire!
A group of students and alumni have pooled their talents to create their first digital art-zine.
Lana Lasher and Stephanie Nava are two recent UCF graduates that are also active in the Orlando art community. They launched their ‘zine in October under the moniker Planet Venus to create a platform for young and contemporary female artists to express themselves in a variety of mediums while challenging conventional notions of womanhood.
For the first issue, they collaborated with five visual artists and one writer. The issue was published in October and celebrates spooky themes. Titled “WitchBitch,” Lasher was inspired to put a positive spin on the typically derogatory term.
Each artist contributed a small collection of original works. Digital and print copies can be purchased on their Gumroad page at https://gumroad.com/planetvenus.
