Josh Hobbs won a place in the prestigious Dallas Wind Symphony Fanfare competition. Hobbs is a graduate student studying composition in the Master of Arts in Music program.
UCF made an impressive showing with two winners. A piece by Josh’s teacher Christopher Marshall was also selected.
The Fanfare Competition boasts entries from composers around the world. The Dallas Wind Symphony presents the winning compositions at the beginning of each concert during their upcoming season.
Hobbs’s fanfare Three Ring will be published by Lovebird Music and premiered by conductor Jerry Junkin and the Dallas Wind Symphony on January 21, 2014. Christopher Marshall’s piece Heat Shimmer will be premiered on October 8, 2013.
