Alice Korosy
Alice Korosy retired in 2024 after nearly 40 years at UCF. Starting as an adjunct in 1985, she advanced through roles as Visiting Instructor and full-time Instructor before retiring as an Associate Instructor of Spanish. Alice taught a broad range of courses, including Honors Spanish, Spanish Conversation, Composition, and Advanced Readings, and directed the Honors Nicaragua Service-Learning Experience. Her dedication to teaching and student engagement has made a lasting impact on the department and the university community.
Trey Philpotts
Trey Philpotts came to UCF in 2015 as a full professor and chair of the English Department. He served in that capacity for five years, also teaching 19th-century British literature during and after his chair term. A specialist in Victorian literature, he is associate editor of Dickens Quarterly and has published extensively on Dickens.
Jane Vaughan
A Senior Lecturer with the Departments of English and Interdisciplinary Studies, Jane Vaughan taught at UCF for fifteen years. She taught widely in Technical Communication and was active in Faculty Senate.
Terry Thaxton
Terry Thaxton has taught at UCF for 24 years; she retires as a full professor in the English Department. She served as both MFA director and Graduate Director as well as a director for countless graduate and undergraduate thesis projects. She has published four books of poetry.
Eileen Ryan
Eileen Ryan has been a valued member of the UCF community for more than 18 years. She has served as executive assistant in the College of Arts and Humanities Dean’s Office since 2016.
Deborah Weaver
As director of the University Writing Center for five years, Deborah Weaver fostered a “culture of care” by championing student-focused, assessment-informed practices and leading the articulation of the center’s core values. Recognized in 2017 as one of “31 UCF Women Who Have Been Instrumental in Shaping UCF,” she has been a dedicated mentor, role model and collaborative leader.
Scott Warfield
Scott Warfield served as associate professor of music with the School of Performing Arts beginning in 2002. As a musicologist, Warfield’s courses, research, and published work covered a broad spectrum of topics, ranging from classical music (1600 to present) to music in the United States. For nearly 20 years, Warfield served as the chief program annotator for the North Carolina Symphony, and in the fall of 2020, he was inducted into UCF’s Scroll and Quill Society in recognition of his scholarly work.
Sybil St. Claire
As a senior lecturer of theatre with the School of Performing arts, Sybil St. Claire spent more than 20 years sharing her passions for arts and wellness, applied theatre, the expressive arts, and socially engaged art with UCF students. St. Claire co-created UCF’s MFA in Theatre for Young Audiences, one of six programs of its kind in the United States. In her time at UCF, she devised and produced several programs and projects that promote art-making as a tool to improve community health, often collaborating with health and wellness providers on campus and beyond. Her work covers a broad scope, but it all shares a unifying thread: using the arts to empower others to live their best lives.
Laine Wyatt
Laine Wyatt served as an associate professor of photography at the School of Visual Arts and Design for 25 years. Her work has been showcased in over 130 gallery exhibitions around the world, and has earned a number of awards. Wyatt’s photography looks at how placing different objects together in a space can reflect what people value, believe and prioritize, and encourages viewers to think about how they see these things.
