Jim Rosengren, friend and supporter of UCF, passed away March 28. Rosengren and his wife, Julia, have given multi-million dollar gifts to the College of Sciences, the College of Arts and Humanities, and UCF Athletics, among other initiatives at the university. Their gift to the College of Arts and Humanities supported programs in Modern Languages and Literatures.
The 2018 donation to Modern Language and Literatures was inspired by Julia’s visit to Russia and the couple’s desire to ensure that students would have the opportunity to experience other cultures. To date, eight students have received Rosengren Study Abroad scholarships for travel, and in 2022, eleven scholarships are expected to be awarded. This summer the gift will also support an in-house Russian immersion experience, which will be the prototype for an ongoing summer language camp.
“Jim and Julia have been good friends of the college, and passionate about all things UCF,” said Jeff Moore, dean of the College of Arts and Humanities. “Their enthusiasm and generosity have made — and will continue to make — tremendous impact going forward.”
Julia Rosengren is a member of the College of Arts and Humanities Dean’s Executive Council.
