Virginia Perwin ’22MA, who recently graduated with her second master’s degree in TESOL, has been named a Wesh 2 CommUNITY Champion for her devotion to learning and serving others.
Prior to teaching nonnative English speakers at Seminole State College, the 85-year-old lifelong learner earned her bachelor’s degree in education and taught grade school for years before moving to Orlando. Committed to learning, Perwin credits her “innate drive to learn to have questions answered” for her return to UCF.
“It’s just intrinsic. Knowing that I have something that I could share, knowing that I have a story. Knowing that when I see a child or a new learner, I can ask about their country, about their language,” Perwin said.
