On April 8, Irina Pidberejna received the 2015 Florida Foreign Language Award as University Scholar of the Year for her Russian/TESOL language studies. The award was a part of Russian Culture Night at the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning and was presented by Dean José Fernández, Chair of Modern Languages Humberto López Cruz and Alla Kourova, Pidberejna’s mentor.
Irina Pidberejna is a graduating Visual Arts and Emerging Media student and has received many awards this year including the Founder’s Day Award for the College of Art and Humanities and First in the Arts and Humanities field at the Showcase of Undergraduate Research Excellence with her project Cross-Cultural Ways and their Role on Students’ Perceptions on Russian and American Culture in a Linguistic Context. She has been accepted into the Master’s Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages program at UCF.
