French student Elizabeth McDonald will be the first student to partake in an overseas internship as part of the requirements for the new French Translation and Interpretation Certificate. The certificate program includes an internship course (FRT 4991) requiring students to work for a minimum of one month in a entity of their choice outside of the university in order to develop and apply to the “real world” the skills they have learned in class. McDonald chose the field of Hospitality in France, and will be travelling to Paris in June to work at the Hôtel Hilton Paris Opéra, where she will be working at the hotel reception serving her clients in French and English. Félicitations et bonne chance, Elizabeth!
