UCF’s Project Spotlight provides collaborative opportunities for students of all majors to take part in productions and develop original works. The student-run organization hosts One Act Festivals and Ten Minute Play Competitions every semester and offers students the chance to participate in UCF Celebrates the Arts.
“They aren’t student theatre in college, but they still get to do something they love in a collegiate setting,” said company manager Shannon Motherwell.
In addition to being the mainstage for students who may not otherwise have the opportunity to be involved in a production, Project Spotlight showcases work written, directed and presented by students in the organization’s One Act Festivals and Ten Minute Play Competitions.
“We don’t ever do anything that’s published already. Everything is done by students,” said artistic director Caroline Hull.
