Three scholars, namely Zev Garber, Lev Hakak, and Shmuel Katz have recently undertaken to edit a jubilee volume (Festschrift) in honor of Moshe Pelli, authority on the Hebrew Haskalah (the Jewish Enlightenment), as well as longtime Director of the Interdisciplinary Program in Judaic Studies and the Abe and Tess Wise Endowed Professor of Judaic Studies at University of Central Florida. In order to bring this project to fruition, they contacted some twenty fellow scholars in the field of Haskalah. It took them from six months to a year to receive the contributions, to compile and edit the material, and to send them back to the writers for their approval. Having assembled the entire collection, they next sent it to a designer in Israel, who transformed the articles into a printable PDF version, from A-Z. A number of major scholars from various universities in Israel, Europe and the United States participated in this volume. Considering its breadth, it represents a major contribution to the field of Jewish Enlightenment studies. It reflects the participation of established scholars as well as younger scholars who have begun their academic careers during the last five to ten years. It is published by the Kibbutz Hameuchad in Israel.
