John Euliano, son of the late Dr. Neil Euliano, has been awarded the title of Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy in recognition of his continued support of the Italian program at the University of Central Florida and the activities of the Euliano Chair in Italian Studies. The honor was conferred during the 2025 Italian Festa della Repubblica celebration organized by the Consulate General of Italy in Miami.
The Order of the Star of Italy is the second-highest civilian honor bestowed by the Italian Republic. Granted by the President of Italy, it recognizes individuals—both Italians abroad and foreign nationals—who have made significant contributions to promoting Italy’s culture, language and international partnerships.
In his official commendation, Vice Consul Giacomo Montrasio praised Euliano “for his renewed commitment to the promotion of Italian language and culture abroad.”
“John Euliano has distinguished himself not only as an entrepreneur and a leader in higher education, but also as a passionate advocate for Italy’s cultural heritage. His steadfast support of the Italian program at the University of Central Florida has had a tangible and lasting impact. Thanks to his vision and commitment, it has been possible to strengthen teaching resources, expand opportunity for students and faculty, and foster an increasingly vibrant intercultural dialogue between Italy and Florida’s academic community.
Nevertheless, the value of his contribution goes beyond material support. John Euliano understands the importance of the Italian language not only as a means of communication but as a vehicle for shared identity, history and humanity. In a world that increasingly needs cultural bridges, his example is an inspiration to us all.”
John Euliano has carried forward the legacy of his father, Dr. Neil Euliano, a long–time supporter of the arts and humanities at UCF. In honor of his Italian heritage and in recognition of the importance of global cultural understanding, Dr. Euliano established the Dr. Neil Euliano Endowed Chair in Italian Studies. His vision was to elevate the university’s Italian Studies program through faculty excellence and student opportunity.
Since its creation, the Euliano Chair has played a pivotal role in enhancing language instruction, expanding cultural programming, and building international academic connections. It stands as a testament to the Euliano family’s commitment to higher education and cultural exchange.
The chair is currently held by Chiara Mazzucchelli, professor and director of UCF’s Italian Studies program. “The Euliano family’s support has truly shaped the growth and reach of our program,” Mazzucchelli says. “John Euliano’s dedication continues to help foster an environment where students can connect deeply with Italian language and culture, while building bridges across communities.”
Euliano’s recognition at the ceremony was both heartfelt and well-deserved, reflecting not only his personal commitment but also the enduring impact of his family’s legacy at UCF.
