The inaugural J.R. Hopes “Eye for Broadway” Art Competition is now open to students in UCF’s School of Visual Arts & Design.
The competition invites participants to create pieces of artwork inspired by upcoming Broadway performances at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. One winner will be selected for each of the first three 2014-15 touring shows: The Phantom of the Opera, Book of Mormon, and Newsies The Musical.
Jim Hopes is sponsoring $500 prizes for each winner, and the chosen artworks will be displayed in the Dr. Phillips venue during the run of their respective Broadway shows.
Hopes also created the J.R. Hopes Art Scholarship that is now in its sixth year at UCF. Both awards are dedicated to nurturing young artists at UCF, encouraging them to make an impact in the Orlando community and beyond.
