Professor of history and director of Middle Eastern Studies Hakan Özoğlu was featured on a recent episode of Global Perspectives, WUCF’s award-winning interview program. Özoğlu discussed his new book, The Decline of the Ottoman Empire and the Rise of the Turkish Republic: Observations of an American Diplomat 1919–1927.
Özoğlu spent 12 years working on the book, which incorporates primary documents — namely the notes of Rear Admiral Mark Lambert Bristol, the U.S. High Commissioner — to describe a tumultuous and critical time in Turkish history.
