As industries increasingly embrace digital technologies – reshaping the way we create, communicate and connect – UCF’s School of Visual Arts and Design (SVAD) is stepping forward with a new opportunity for students across all disciplines.

Launching in fall 2025, the Digital Art and Emerging Experiences minor is an 18-credit-hour program designed to empower students to use digital creativity as a tool to engage global audiences and amplify their stories across disciplines.

This fully online, asynchronous minor provides a strong foundation in digital art, animation, AI-generated art and visual storytelling for digital platforms like social media, with the flexibility and convenience ideal for students balancing coursework or seeking location independence.

“We designed this minor to be accessible and welcoming to all disciplines,” said Matt Dombrowski ’05, MFA’08, assistant director of SVAD and professor of animation and visualization. “Whether you’re a business student, an engineer or an artist, digital creativity is now part of your toolkit. This minor gives students the power to tell meaningful stories and the necessary tools to create impact far beyond the classroom.”

The minor includes core courses such as Introduction to Computer Art, Art for Social Media and The Art of AI. Students can also choose from a selection of electives exploring topics like the history of animated films and smartphone photography.

Our goal is to ignite creative exploration in every student, no matter their major,” said Dombrowski. In today’s digital-first world, visual storytelling and emerging technologies are vital tools for communication, innovation and expanding UCF students’ personal brands.”

There are no requirements to enroll in this minor. Interested students should contact an Academic Success Coach in the College of Arts & Humanities at CAHSA@ucf.edu.
