Associate Dean Lynn Hepner ’95MA is retiring from UCF on August 7. Her ability to anticipate the needs of the college and to provide the right data at the right time has made her invaluable to CAH.

This year, the 11-day festival known as UCF Celebrates the Arts is back and bigger than ever before.

“We asked for a ‘little help from our friends’ this year, and our friends delivered,” says Jeff Moore, dean of the College of Arts and Humanities.

The annual festival brings musicians, theater practitioners and visual artists from the UCF campus to the Central Florida community in an array of offerings including jazz, dance, musical theater, opera, symphony, bands, visual arts, talks, choirs, family events and more.

Poet Laureate Shawn Welcome will perform at Dr. Phillips Center as part of “A Celebration of the Orlando Poet Laureate” on April 9.

Started in 2015, UCF Celebrates the Arts continues to grow with this year’s festival. Here, representing various artistic genres, are five key programs at the festival to check out.

Undergraduate writing and rhetoric student Lindsey Wright explores the use of audios and hashtags on TikTok and how their use reflects self-identity.

The program awarded a total of $1 million to 32 teams, several of which included CAH faculty members.

The winning projects, which received $25,000 each, were chosen for adhering to the year’s theme of strength, resolve and resilience.

Assistant professor of writing and rhetoric Sonia Arellano won the 2022 CCCC Richard Braddock Award for her article “Sexual Violences Traveling to El Norte: An Example of Quilting as Method.”
