Kate Kilpatrick will soon graduate with an MFA in Theatre for Young Audiences and the Order of Pegasus for her hard work, which includes directing plays for UCF Celebrates the Arts and teaching children about the joys of theatre.

Based on a poem by UCF English professor Chrissy Kolaya, music professor Alex Burtzos’ choral piece “Mirabilis” will be performed by the UCF Chamber Singers at UCF Celebrates the Arts.

UCF Faculty Excellence chooses 31 UCF women to honor throughout Women’s History Month each year. For 2019, 10 of the 31 faculty members are from the College of Arts and Humanities.

Director of Bands Scott Lubaroff, associate professor of flute Dr. Nora Lee García and associate professor of bassoon Dr. Yoon Joo Hwang will be presenting master classes from March 13 to March 18 at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea.

Helping students discover their own creativity through music and music education, the Central Florida nonprofit program has provided thousands of students with tuition-free music education for twenty years provided by UCF faculty and students.

Kate Kilpatrick, a graduate student in the School of Performing Arts, is receiving UCF’s highest student honor, Order of Pegasus.

Congratulations to the UCF Knights Saxophone Quartet on winning the southern division of the MTNA Chamber Music Competition! Jade Deatherage, Dylan Hannan, Noah Mosca and Najee Lee will be the first UCF students to advance to the finals of the MTNA competitions, which will be held in Spokane, Washington on March 15-17, 2019. 

UCF faculty member Luis Fred is part of the ensemble Trombones de Costa Rica and began their U.S. tour with the UCF School of Performing Arts, culminating with a performance on February 25.

In December 2018, assistant professor of bassoon Yoon Joo Hwang, DMA, made her last stop abroad at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China. 

The fifth-annual festival held at downtown Orlando’s Dr. Phillips Center will underscore the resilience of humans and the healing power of art.
