Jonell Logan, curator of But Before Bone is Skin, sat down with Orlando Weekly to discuss the curatorial process behind her current UCF Art Gallery exhibition. The exhibition, which features work that “defines or constructs space, questions notions of class and belonging, and the bonds, and battles of women,” is inspired by Logan’s connection with the novel Silver Sparrow. Logan shared how she selected artists for the exhibit, the unique challenges and benefits that came from curating the exhibit remotely and why showcasing different art forms was important to her.
“I think it’s a complete space that allows for you to appreciate work, generate questions, reconsider ideas and take it all out into the world on your own to ask more questions,” says Logan.
