On loan from the Southeast Museum of Photography, a service of Daytona State College, Departures VI is a juried exhibition which showcases recent photography from graduates of both Daytona State College and the University of Central Florida’s photography program.
The University of Central Florida and Daytona State College have a remarkable partnership that offers students a four-year bachelor’s degree in photography. Departures VI presents work from more than twenty graduates of this program. The diversity of the exhibit and the fresh eye of the graduates makes this show an exciting experience for all who see it.
The profound images of Departure VI are a compliment to renowned photographer Berenice Abbott’s paraphrase, “To chart a course, one must have a direction. In reality, the eye is no better than the philosophy behind it. The photographer creates, evolves a better, a more selective, more acute seeing eye by looking ever more sharply at what is going on in the world.”
