ARTIST TALK w/ Josh Jalbert
Thursday, March 23
3:00pm – 4:00pm
Josh Jalbert is an artist and educator working in photography. He is a graduate of the University of Oregon’s MFA program, and a doctoral candidate at the European Graduate School. He is a Professor in the Photography Department at Savannah College of Art and Design and is represented by Galerie 124 in Savannah, Georgia.
“Photography, for me, is a question of perception, experience and not of representation. Art photography is a paradox: it misuses depiction in order to deal with things that are hard to visualize. Photography tries to open the door on the non-visual, and to the possibility of picturing such things. Photography presses at the borders of the visual. It makes the visual explode, and unfolds access to perception and feeling.”
