Location: UCF Art Gallery
Opening Reception: Thursday, September 4, 6-8pm
The University of Central Florida Art Gallery is proud to start the fall semester off with a vibrant exhibition featuring artists from our neighboring campus, Valencia. Chris Robb, Cicero Greathouse, Jackie Otto Miller, Paul T Scarborough and Nancy Jay will be exhibiting new and exciting works from Sept 4-26, 2014.
Chris Robb:
“Painting for me is an exercise in color relationship. At it’s core that’s what makes the painting work. The marks, the texture and the lack of formal composition are what give the picture it’s history.”
Cicero Greathouse:
“I am inspired by the colors, shapes and textures that surround me. these three elements can be found in landscape, architecture, a ritual or a journey. So in this case my paintings come from my interpretation of living.”
Jackie Otto Miller:
“I am a non-objective painter exploring moments when cognition, sensory perception and memory collide. I am a careful observer of the fluidity of light, edge and color in continuous change.”
Paul T Scarborough:
“My work is a response to and interpretation of my life experiences and people I’ve encountered.. Paintings deal with gestures of the human and natural landscape.”
Nancy Jay:
“Light, color, and the gestural mark are the formal concerns in painting that engage me the most. The imagery however, abstract though it appears, grows out of my interest in natural phenomena.”
