Daniel M. Jones Theatre UCF’s costume shop manager for over 15 years, made teddy bears come alive, dressed a musical busybody to the nines, raised his voice in joyous song and explored the art of female impersonation with UCF students.
Jones designed costumes for a variety of Theatre UCF shows including Titanic, The Drowsy Chaperone and West Side Story, among many others. He also taught classes in costuming, theatrical makeup and a student favorite course titled “Shakespeare to RuPaul: Drag in Entertainment.”
“Dan was part of our Theatre UCF family, and his creativity and wonderful designs brightened many productions over the years,” said Michael Wainstein, director of the School of Performing Arts. “He helped our students find their characters and perform their roles on the stage and off.”
The School of Performing Arts will host a celebration of Dan Jones’ life on Sunday, October 17, at 5:30 p.m. The event will be live streamed via YouTube for those who are unable to attend in-person.
