Director of Bands Scott Lubaroff, associate professor of flute Dr. Nora Lee García and associate professor of bassoon Dr. Yoon Joo Hwang will be presenting master classes from March 13 to March 18 at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea. Lubaroff is a guest conductor of the Seojong Wind Symphonic Band and Garcia will feature as a soloist under Lubaroff at the Yonsei University Centennial Memorial Hall.
Yonsei University is a prestigious private research university in Seoul, Korea, established in 1885. It is considered the most prestigious in the country.
Professor Chelwoong Lee (Professor of Trombone, Director of Yonsei Wind Ensemble and Director of the Seojong Symphonic Wind Orchestra) worked hard to develop wind education for Korean wind players and students for many years. He decided to establish the Sejong Symphonic Wind Orchestra in 2014.
“It means a lot to perform with musicians from a different culture, but we will be united through the music,” says Hwang. “This journey will be a great opportunity to visit one of the leading universities, to provide learning opportunities and meet talented young musicians in East Asia. We are looking forward to having an international education relationship with UCF and Yonsei in the future.”
